Breast Self Examination

The program is run by women for women, through the YWCA. Free services include education about breast cancer and referrals for low-cost or free screening and diagnostic exams. We will help anyone who asks.

We help women learn about breast cancer, and help them get screening exams, diagnostic exams, and treatment if cancer is found. Early detection of breast cancer saves women's lives.

• We refer women who need low cost and free exams or treatment to reduced-cost and free health care providers;
• We work with women who have no insurance or are underinsured, as well as those with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, to help them get medical care;
• We help women overcome barriers to medical care; for example, we refer to sources of financial help to pay for transportation or medical costs;
• We contact women to remind them when their annual exams are due;
• We provide up-to-date information and personal support to women who have been diagnosed with suspicious or positive cancer results, so that they can make good decisions about what to do.
