Robert Thatcher, a 35 year old football player from Sussex played on the field for over 20 years, since he was a young kid. His therapist used many different massage techniques and he had to visit her once a week for around 6 months until he started feeling significantly better.
After this, he wasn’t able to jump straight back into playing football. He needed to slowly get back into exercise and this was done by performing slow forms of activity like low-intensity swimming exercises that were easy on the muscles. He also was surprised by how great he felt once he started doing Pilates and yoga – two forms of exercise a young man would have never dreamed of doing, but his physiotherapist recommended it as a great starter point to getting back into his active life. The combination of manual therapy and the rehabilitation exercises allowed Robert to start playing football again within the year.
